Ava, the daughter of Dustin and Kandi Wiseman of Groton, SD, is a vibrant 7-year-old who loves farming, fishing, hunting, and traveling.

On October 24, 2020, our lives changed forever when we found our 2-year-old daughter seizing violently in her bed. The seizure lasted 15 agonizing minutes before paramedics arrived. Despite treatment, Ava’s seizures persisted, leading us to seek help from the University of Minnesota in 2022.

Thanks to their care, Ava has been seizure-free since October 17, 2023! However, medication side effects have caused colon issues, and she will undergo a Malone Antegrade Continence Enema (MACE) procedure on December 11, 2024, to ease her pain. We’ve also learned she has high-frequency hearing loss in her left ear, the side affected by her seizures.

Through it all, Ava remains brave and determined to live life like any other child. We’re forever grateful to the Groton EMTs and the University of Minnesota doctors for saving our little girl. God clearly has big plans for her!
